Is CrossFit for me?

CrossFit is for anyone. CrossFit can be scaled to anyone’s level of fitness. If you are unsure if CrossFit is for you, call CrossFit Lighthouse and set up an appointment for a FREE TRIAL CLASS or come to CrossFit Lighthouse during one of the scheduled classes and get a feel for the place and the members. The members and the staff will make you feel welcome and part of the family.

Where is CrossFit Lighthouse located?

We are located at 2450 Charles Court Bellmore, NY 11710. We are right off of the Southern State Parkway Exit 25 South.  You would drive down Newbridge Road and when you see Ace Hardware store you would make a left on Charles Court and we are on the right.

What if I am really out of shape?

The owners and a lot of the members were really out of shape when they began doing CrossFit. Every exercise can be scaled to fit the members level of fitness.  So, no need to worry we understand.

What if I have or had an injury?

We are not physicians and recommend you consult with your physician before starting any training program. We have members who have used CrossFit to rehabilitate from minor injuries. The best way to long-term health is to perform functional movements with proper form rather than avoiding it all together and never fixing the problem.

What if I’m already fit?

If you are already fit that is great, we can scale up the workouts to fit your needs.

I’m in town and want to come to a class, can I just drop in?

Just in town for a day, stop by we welcome all. $20 for drop-ins or buy a T-Shirt. First Responders/Active Military is $10 and Full Time Students is $15.  You must be an active member of a CrossFit.

What do I need to bring?

All you need to bring is comfortable workout clothes, shorts are recommended and maybe a small towel.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

What type of diet should I follow?

CrossFit teaches the Zone diet as created by Dr. Barry Sears. Many CrossFit athletes also follow the “Paleo” diet or the “Paleo Diet for Athletes.” Check out our links page for more information about these diet and nutrition programs, or contact either of our trainers for more information.

*Courage, inspiration and ambition. While they are simple words to say, their execution is no easy task. I walked into CrossFit Lighthouse I in May of 2014 having exhausted the usual gym routines, home personal trainers and multiple home training video’s. Looking around the facility, I saw members engaged in box jumps, pull ups and jump ropes? I knew this was going to be something unique. What I didn’t expect was to be welcomed, embraced and motivated beyond compare.
The courage I drew upon to begin this training regimen was equally matched by my gym-mates, each with their own story, reasons and at a point in their lives wanting to be better. We arrive at CrossFit after approaching life’s crossroad of personal or professional uncertainty. Some are students, young and eager to build a mind and body, to compete, train or perform. Some are young parents, newly enthusiastic about life and the hopeful legacy they nurture. Others like myself with older children, hoping to recapture some youth, strength and physique. Regardless, our endpoint is the same: good health=good life.
Inspiration predominantly comes from the owners, trainers and the facility. The new modern, state of the art facility of Lighthouse II allow Dan and Jack and their brilliant staff to teach, encourage, motivate and compel each member’s improvement. From barely finishing a WOD scaled to ability, my personal progression to Rx, acquiring skills of double-under jump rope, muscle-ups and the endurance achieved has improved my health immensely. The comradery, friendships, encouragement and insights are the Box’s double bonuses.
Ambition in life transcends all we do. Ambition is fueled by self-confidence and achievement. These two elements begin with a daily dose of discipline which I define as simply doing what you don’t want to do when you don’t want to do it. Having CrossFit in my day clearly puts the remainder of the day in perspective. Regardless of how imaginative or grand your ambitions are, the physical and mental fitness necessary to achieve them for me are encouraged by CrossFit.*
