TESTIMONIALS

“I have been training at Crossfit Lighthouse for the past two and half years. I spent the majority of my life morbidly obese and had never worked out before. After losing the majority of the weight I started working out at work with some friends in 2010. We then came into Lighthouse in July of 2013. I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t know anything about Crossfit. I was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable coaches who taught me the basics. As someone who until a few years prior had never picked up a weight I was very intimidated. The coaches were great at explaining that Crossfit is a process. They told me Crossfit is about slowly getting better over time and it took a while but when I finally earned the RX next to my name on the white board I was thrilled.

The coaches take the time each day to help me improve my technique and give pointers on how to move more efficiently. The coaches are extremely passionate and genuinely care about how I am doing. I am constantly amazed at the tips, drills and new ways they have of breaking down each lift. I recently have set a personal record in back squat, snatch, clean and front squat. The beauty of Crossfit is there is always something to work on and improve. The variety of movements and programs allow me to be striving for more. Training at Lighthouse has given me a confidence that I didn’t have before. I consider myself an athlete, where before I would never say that. It helps me learn how to set small attainable goals and break tasks down into manageable pieces; get through this round, break it up into sets of 5, or increase the weight by 5 pounds. I learned how to appreciate small successes and see that as part of the process. I am very grateful to be a member of Crossfit Lighthouse.

“CrossFit lighthouse is the place to be if you want to push your body to the next level. It doesn’t matter where your starting point is when it comes to fitness. The coaching staff, along with the people that work-out at CrossFit Lighthouse bring a positive, challenging, invigorating, and addicting atmosphere. Every WOD is hard. Every WOD is challenging. But the hardest part isn’t even the workout itself …. It’s “walking through the doors”. It’s coming in proud, knowing you just made the best decision of your life !!!
As soon as you walk into Lighthouse everyone is always excited to see you there. It’s never “hey how are you?”. But more like “Hey Sammy, what’s up dude, Awesome seeing you here, how’s the family, how’s the job, what’s new, are you ready for this WOD”? You can’t help it, but find yourself excited knowing you’re about to experience something insane, like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. The challenges become more intense with every second left on the clock, and every drop of sweat that falls from your body to the floor.

The best part about this is that you never feel alone when your working out at Lighthouse. There’s always that sense of being a part of a team at Lighthouse. Although it’s just you doing the actual WOD, You’re never alone working out because not only do you have coaches by your side to make sure that your “form” is perfect – not only are the coaches there to push you, and motivate you, and cheer you on every step of the way – You’re never alone because there’s always someone next to you experiencing the pain and the determination needed to get to the end of the WOD. There’s someone next to you across your left shoulder and right shoulder pushing you to finish this challenge. There’s someone there just as hungry to make it to the finish line. It’s as if you’re running the football for a touchdown and your teammate is there to get you to the “End-zone”. I Love that feeling !!!

The coaches are a blessing to have around. They really take their time to explain the workouts and the movements required to hit your goals. Whether it’s during the WOD’S, or the specialized classes like Olympic Lifting, they really are passionate and motivating in everything they teach. The coaching staff is always available and approachable if you need help with form, or tips to achieving the next plateau like the “muscle-up”.
Some people smile and others cry because everyone knows that when you walk through the doors of CrossFit Lighthouse, you’re about to indulge in something fierce, something exhausting, and something worthwhile!!! Working out at CrossFit Lighthouse has not only helped me with reaching my fitness goals, but it has also motivated me outside “the Box”. It has helped me with my job and my everyday life becoming mentally strong to endure the next thing. I have developed strong relationships with new friends and motivated old friends to give CrossFit a try. My experience with CrossFit Lighthouse has given me the spark to continue my fitness and become a better person for my co-workers, friends, and family. I thank Jack, Dan, and the rest of the Lighthouse staff for making this experience unbelievable. Can’t wait for the next WOD at Lighthouse.

“If you asked me a year ago why I go to the gym I would’ve told you to workout. But then in December of 2014 I stepped into Crossfit Lighthouse. The first day I walked in I was a cocky twenty-year-old kid who thought he was in great shape… That day was a huge wake up call. A 60-year-old man who I now know as “Frank the Tank” kicked my ass in the workout. At first I didn’t know what to think. Was I unfit, out of shape, or was I just plain pathetic? I expected the coaches and members to look down on me. However the exact opposite happened. Everyone congratulated me on finishing the workout and made me feel welcomed.

As the weeks went by I learned a lot about the facility. The equipment was of the highest degree and the coaches were inspiring. I got to witness what the coaches were physically capable of and I thought I would never be at their level. Even though I doubted myself the coaches always pushed me to do my best. Every single coach wanted me to get to the next level. I was inspired to be like them. After spending an entire year with Crossfit Lighthouse’s state of the art facility and inspiring coaches, I have developed passion for the sport. I walk in everyday looking to push my limits. Crossfit Lighthouse has changed my life for the better and I cannot thank the owners, Jack and Dan, enough for creating such an amazing community. So now, one year later, if you asked me why I go to the gym, I would tell you its to spend time with my new friends and family.

“When I first started Crossfit Lighthouse I was at my heaviest weight of 210lbs. I realized how unhappy I was with myself and decided to make a change. I wanted and needed a healthier lifestyle, so I contacted my best friend and now coach Amanda. She encouraged me to join Crossfit and reassured me that I would succeed. She gave me the push that I needed to take the next step. One of the hardest things for me was just showing up. However, once I was there I instantly fell in love with the coaches, DEEZ, people and the environment. From then on I have grown more confident and have lost over 70 lbs. every morning I go to Crossfit I push myself harder and joining was one the best decisions I have ever made. I have participated in races, which is something I never thought I could do. Cmc, savage race, and tough mudder are three of my proudest accomplishments. I never would of been able to achieve any of this without my “family” at Crossfit lighthouse!”

“I joined Crossfit Lighthouse a little over two years ago and it was one of the best healthcare decisions that I have ever made. Before Crossfit I had always belonged to a gym but the workouts had become boring and I had lost most of my motivation to workout. I found myself overweight, tired and not anywhere near as strong as I would have liked. All of that changed after several months at Crossfit. The camaraderie, competitive environment, and coaching pushes people to work harder and be stronger than they think is possible. Over the past two years I have gained a tremendous amount of strength, lost weight and significantly increased muscle mass. It is almost never easy, but it is always fun. With the constant variation it is nearly impossible to get bored! Once you start you won’t regret the decision and you will almost certainly never look at working out the same way again.”

“Courage, inspiration and ambition. While they are simple words to say, their execution is no easy task. I walked into CrossFit Lighthouse I in May of 2014 having exhausted the usual gym routines, home personal trainers and multiple home training video’s. Looking around the facility, I saw members engaged in box jumps, pull ups and jump ropes? I knew this was going to be something unique. What I didn’t expect was to be welcomed, embraced and motivated beyond compare.

The courage I drew upon to begin this training regimen was equally matched by my gym-mates, each with their own story, reasons and at a point in their lives wanting to be better. We arrive at CrossFit after approaching life’s crossroad of personal or professional uncertainty. Some are students, young and eager to build a mind and body, to compete, train or perform. Some are young parents, newly enthusiastic about life and the hopeful legacy they nurture. Others like myself with older children, hoping to recapture some youth, strength and physique. Regardless, our endpoint is the same: good health=good life.

Inspiration predominantly comes from the owners, trainers and the facility. The new modern, state of the art facility of Lighthouse II allow Dan and Jack and their brilliant staff to teach, encourage, motivate and compel each member’s improvement. From barely finishing a WOD scaled to ability, my personal progression to Rx, acquiring skills of double-under jump rope, muscle-ups and the endurance achieved has improved my health immensely. The comradery, friendships, encouragement and insights are the Box’s double bonuses.

Ambition in life transcends all we do. Ambition is fueled by self-confidence and achievement. These two elements begin with a daily dose of discipline which I define as simply doing what you don’t want to do when you don’t want to do it. Having CrossFit in my day clearly puts the remainder of the day in perspective. Regardless of how imaginative or grand your ambitions are, the physical and mental fitness necessary to achieve them for me are encouraged by CrossFit.
